She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, the Director of the Stanford Palliative Care Education & Training Program and the Associate Director of Palliative Care Services, VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Her research work is focused on cross-cultural issues in patients with chronic and serious illnesses, older adults and patients at the end of life. She is involved in various multidisciplinary pediatric palliative research teams, and helped developed social work competencies in palliative care.
 philcox Phil Cox PhD, Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, MO 65401 Phil Cox is Pastoral Care Director at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri. His work includes grief recovery, pastoral care, and he worked for eight years as a hospice chaplain. His education includes History (BA), Management (MA), and Clinical Christian Counseling (PhD).
 donalkgordon Donal Gordon MD,  Cedar Rapids Medical Education Foundation (Cedar Rapids Family Medicine Residency), Cedar Rapids, IA 52333 Dónal Kevin Gordon, MD, is the Program Director at the Cedar Rapids (IA) Family Medicine Residency and Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa College of Medicine. Much more importantly, life has taught him what life means—something he brings to Palliative Medicine and to each patient encounter.
 mariangrant Marian Grant RN, CRNP, DNP, University of Maryland School of Nursing, Baltimore, MD 21201 Marian Grant, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland’s School of Nursing and works as an NP on the University of Maryland Medical Center’s Palliative Care Consult Service. She does research on nursing communication. Prior to nursing, Dr. Grant was a marketing executive with the Procter & Gamble Company.
 nicolejohnson Nicole Johnson LCSW, MS, Department of Veterans Affairs, Bay Pines, FL 33765 Nicole Johnson, Licensed Clinical Social Worker obtained a Masters of Social Work at Florida State University and a Masters in Aging Studies at University of South Florida. Dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of older adults and Caregivers; she is currently a National Program Manager: Veterans Affairs Caregiver Support Program.
 ritamariemoscola Ritamarie Moscola MD, Manchester VA, Manchester NH 03104 Ritamarie Moscola, MD, MPH, CMD, CPE is Board Certified in Geriatric Medicine with a focus on Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. She has received grants to explore the arts in healthcare. She presents workshops on integrating the arts and health. This column will explore the arts, humanities and medicine.
 ritamariemoscola Seema Nagpal, MD, Stanford University, Division of Neuro-oncology, Stanford, CA 94305 Seema Nagpal is a clinical assistant professor of neurology at Stanford. She specializes in neuro-oncology, caring for patients with primary brain tumors, as well as patients with neurologic complications of systemic cancer. She is very interested in how a focus on quality of life can translate into longer survival for her patients.
 folajuoyebola Folaju Olusegun Oyebola MD, MPhil, Pain and Palliative Medicine Department, Federal Medical Centre, Ogun-State, Nigeria Dr. Folaju O.Oyebola is the Head of Pain and Palliative Medicine Department of the Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta Nigeria. He holds MPhil. Degree in Pain and Palliative Medicine (UCT,South Africa) and completed a 2 year International Palliative Care Leadership Development Initiative (LDI) Program with San Diego Hospice, USA in 2011.
 nickyquinlan Nicky Quinlan, MB, MRCPI Nicky Quinlan is a physician from Dublin, Ireland, and who just completed a geriatric medicine fellowship in Boston and has moved to the Stanford Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship program. He has a background in geriatric medicine and also had a wonderful experience in home hospice. He is interested in frailty as a geriatric syndrome but also in psychological frailty in response to serious illness and loss of function. He has recently come to realize that sitting and listening to people’s “lived experience” most satisfies his humanity as a physician.
 ryanweller Ryan Weller, Portland VA Medical Center, Portland, OR 97239 Ryan Weller, LCSW, is the Palliative Care Program Manager for the VA’s Northwest Health Network and for the Palliative Care Consult Team at the Portland VA Medical Center.  His commitment to palliative care began in 1995 with a year of working and training at Wellspring Hospice in London, England.
